Spitroast Catering FAQ’S

Frequently asked questions and answers about Spitroasters catering services:

Do you cook the meat on the spit roast at our place?
-We can cook on site or back at our kitchen, whichever suits the function.
What time will you be arriving to do this and what do you need in this regard (e.g. access to kitchen facilities/water/power)?
-If we are cooking on site we arrive 4 hours earlier and require single phase power and running water nearby. Access to kitchen facilities is helpful but not essential.
We are hiring a marquee for our front lawn and need to know…how much space you will require for the food?
-We setup buffet tables for the food, generally 3 x 1.8 metre tables, a good idea is to temporarily setup on the dance floor as we can dismantle before the party starts.
How far out from the day do you need to confirm exact numbers?
-We ask you confirm catering numbers and the menu choices 14 days out from the big day.
Are they plastic plates and cutlery, or crockery and metal?
-Menu 1 comes with plastic disposable plates and cutlery and the rest of the menus come with crockery plates and metal cutlery with the first 50 free and $2.50 per place setting after that.
What do the serving staff do?
-Our waiting staff help setup the buffet and help service the guests, then they will clear all the plates from the tables
Do you need tables for serving food?
-We bring our own foldout tables and table clothes for the buffet.
Do you provide sauces and serviettes?
-Yes, each meat has its own condiment like mint sauce or apple sauce + of course there is gravy. We do provide serviettes, they are plain white.
How many can you cater for?
-We have catered successfully for 300 people, our average function size is 100 people.
